Hillary Porter is a Latina Broadway actor, singer, dancer, musician, and educator who is known for her versatility when it comes to playing roles. She thrives on wearing many hats and strives to always remain outside of anyone’s box.

…Hillary didn’t plan to be an actor. She grew up playing sports and was almost a teenager when she started dancing, then performed in a couple musicals at her community theatre during high school, and started taking voice lessons mid-way through college. Raised in Greenville, SC, she was a communications major at Clemson University (go Tigers!) with an emphasis in visual communication where she developed other passions for writing, editing, designing, marketing, and media. Then in her sophomore year of college, she performed a lead role in a play at Clemson, and that was it. She was, as they say, bit by the bug. So she quickly changed her minor to theatre, completed her degree a year early, and graduated summa cum laude in just three years to pursue a new career in theatre. During her final year of college, she auditioned for the national tour of the musical Cats and, immediately after graduating, set off touring the country as the role of Rumpleteazer.

On Broadway, Hillary performed in A Bronx Tale the Musical. Other New York City credits include performing in the one-night only, sold out 15th Anniversary Reunion Concert of the Tony Winning Best Musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, reuniting Sutton Foster, Gavin Creel, and most of the original cast with some additional new performers at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.

In addition to Cats, she has toured nationally with Elf the Musical and Hello, Dolly!, understudying the principal roles of Minnie Fay and Ermengarde.

Some of her favorite regional theatre credits include starring as the role of Girl in the musical Once at Pioneer Theatre Company where she also played the piano in the show, Diana Morales in A Chorus Line at the Cape Playhouse, Rosalia in the regional premiere of Jerome Robbins’ Broadway at The Muny, and Lorraine in Jersey Boys at Ogunquit Playhouse.

Hillary is proud to represent her Puerto Rican heritage on stage throughout the country and in New York City where she currently lives.
